Senior Brand Designer (Contract)

San Mateo, California, United States - Full-time

Skydio is the leading US drone company and the world leader in autonomous flight, the key technology for the future of drones and aerial mobility. The Skydio team combines deep expertise in artificial intelligence, best-in-class hardware and software product development, operational excellence, and customer obsession to empower a broader, more diverse audience of drone users. From utility inspectors to first responders, soldiers in battlefield scenarios and beyond.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Brand Designer to help shape how Skydio shows up in the world—crafting clear, compelling, and memorable visual experiences across a wide range of touchpoints for the leader in autonomous flight.

  • Location: San Mateo, CA (Hybrid: 3 days onsite/week)

  • This role will begin as a full-time (40 hours/week) contract position, with the potential to evolve based on business needs and mutual fit.

About the Role:

As our Senior Brand Designer, you’ll help shape and evolve Skydio’s visual identity across brand, product, and marketing experiences. You’ll translate complex, cutting-edge technology into clear, compelling, and distinctive expressions and solutions that show up consistently—and beautifully—wherever our brand lives.

You’ll be part of a highly collaborative creative team, working closely with creative directors, marketers, and cross-functional partners to bring the Skydio brand to life across:

  • Web and digital experiences

  • Brand and product launches

  • Campaigns, social, and paid media

  • Events, environments, and experiential design

  • Merchandise, packaging, and physical collateral

  • Presentations and internal communications

This role is ideal for a multifaceted design generalist—someone who pairs strong conceptual thinking with exceptional craft and can move fluidly between big ideas and detailed execution.

What you'll do:

  • Design across a wide range of brand and marketing deliverables—from concept through final execution

  • Collaborate closely with Creative, Product, GTM, and Engineering partners to translate ideas into impactful visual experiences

  • Help raise the overall bar for brand execution through strong taste, feedback, and attention to detail

  • Partner with vendors—providing art direction and hands-on design as needed

  • Present design work clearly and confidently to stakeholders, incorporating feedback iteratively

What makes you a good fit:

You’re a versatile, detail-driven designer with a strong point of view and a deep appreciation for craft. You’re comfortable owning projects end-to-end, collaborating across disciplines, and adapting quickly as priorities evolve. Your portfolio demonstrates both conceptual strength and polished execution across digital and physical experiences.

  • 5+ years of brand or graphic design experience, either in-house, at an agency, or both

  • A portfolio showcasing a range of work—brand systems, campaigns, digital experiences, events, and physical collateral

  • Strong conceptual thinking paired with meticulous design execution

  • High fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), plus comfort working in Google Slides and Keynote

  • Experience collaborating with and guiding external partners such as agencies, fabricators, or production vendors

  • A high bar for quality and consistency, with an eye for detail that elevates every deliverable

  • A flexible, resilient mindset—you embrace iteration and thrive in fast-moving environments

  • A self-starter who can manage multiple projects independently, balancing timelines and stakeholders with ease

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
