About the Role

As the Staff Product Manager for Wireless Hardware Technologies & Radios, you will own Skydio’s hardware product and requirements roadmap spanning the direct connectivity with our controllers, our external radio, to 5G cellular and overall network connectivity. You will work closely with our hardware, wireless and embedded software engineering teams to help define and shape both the underlying technology and also the radio products themselves. You will work directly with customers to build out our industry-leading workflows to unlock scaled remote operations across Utilities, Public Safety and Federal markets. We’re looking for someone who has the ability to look around corners and a passion for delivering compelling solutions.

Location

This position is based onsite 5 days/week at our HQ in San Mateo, CA. We offer relocation assistance if needed.

What you will be responsible for in this role:

  • Be the product owner for Skydio’s cellular (LTE, 5G), Skydio Link Point to Point wireless technologies and Federal multi-band electronic warfare resistant radio implementations.
  • Be the product owner for radios themselves - both as components built into our docks, controllers and drones, but also to manage standalone external radios.

What you will be doing in this role:

  • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to understand core business problems and develop strategies to solve them.
  • Work cross-functionally, and in close cooperation with the hardware engineering and wireless teams, to define new products, scope and prioritize features, and maintain a clear wireless product roadmap.
  • Work closely with designers and other product leaders to build out end-to-end wireless workflows that are delightful for both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Drive technical and business tradeoffs, providing executive-level recommendations, as the wireless subject matter expert for Product Management.
  • Capture, document, and distill feedback from customers and internal testers to continually improve your products and features.
  • Partner with Product Marketing to develop launch plans, product positioning and messaging to bring your products to market.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Customer Success to build and maintain close customer relationships, and ensure proper training and support.

Required experience that would make you a good fit for the role:

  • 6+ years of proven success in defining and delivering complex wireless products, owning end-to-end products spanning hardware and software.
  • Deep technical understanding of wireless protocols including 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be and cellular.
  • Proven ability to leverage technical depth and business acumen to lead strategic tradeoffs and executive-level product recommendations.
  • Experience defining and launching innovative end-to-end product workflows spanning HW, SW and cloud.
  • Highly facilitative team player who strives to enable others to do their best work.
  • A passion for speaking with -- and learning from -- customers.

Potential added backgrounds that would make you a great fit for the role:

  • A background in electrical engineering, wireless engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science.
  • Direct experience leading products in Robotics, AI, drones or aviation categories.
  • Experience working closely with enterprise customers including Utilities, Public Safety or Defense.
  • Video streaming experience over variable links and different codecs.
