Alaska DOT drone program assists communities during emergencies
Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT & PF) launches a drone program to assist remote communities, isolated and only accessible by air, boat, or by ice road in the winter. Drones will collect data about the condition of the ice road to keep travellers informed and will also be used in emergency response, to get eyes on people and/or critical infrastructure following natural disasters like earthquakes, wildfires, floods, and extreme weather events.
